Web Master: When did you start your Karate training?
Interviewee: Started Karate training in July 1997
Web Master: Why did you start Karate?
Interviewee: We were attending a show at Brentwood School when my sons spotted ‘Power Rangers’ and wanted to join in. We then looked for the club.
Web Master: Where and why did you start your training?
Interviewee: Since my sons were training I felt it appropriate to join in. We started at the Danbury Dojo, as it was the closest to where we lived.
Web Master: Who was your first instructor?
Interviewee: Simon.
Web Master: What is your occupation?
Interviewee: Arboriculturist – involved in all aspects of tree management.
Web Master: How long have you worked there?
Interviewee: I moved to the area in 1989 from North Wales and have worked at Basildon since.
Web Master: Do you do any teaching?
Interviewee: Help with teaching the junior class at Danbury on a Friday night.
Web Master: Have you had much success in competition?
Interviewee: For the past four years I have entered the competitions on the summer course and have won a 3rd for Kata and two 3rd’s for Kumite.
Web Master: What is your favourite Kata?
Interviewee: Any without a kick.
Web Master: What is your favourite technique?
Interviewee: Kumite and sparing.
Web Master: Do you feel Karate has influenced your personal life in anyway?
Interviewee: Yes, apart from the physical advantages of Karate it has added another social aspect to our lives, which is most enjoyable.
Web Master: Do you have any other interests?
Interviewee: I am a school governor at the local school and enjoy playing football.
Web Master: What are your current goals in your training?
Interviewee: Short-term goals are to be ready at the end of the year for Dan grading and long term to train for along as possible.
